Gyuto Monastery, one of the most well-known monasteries in Dharamshala, is renowned for its tantric meditation and teachings. It was first founded in Tibet around 1474. But the Tibetan monks restored it in Dharamshala following the communist Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959. At this time, refugees and monks from the Gyuto Tantric Monastery travelled to India. The monks of the monastery strive to uphold and spread the great master Tsongkhapa’s tantric teachings for the sake of humanity.

With the gorgeous Dhauladhar Range in the background, this lovely monastery is situated on a hilltop. Its stunning gold-plated statue of Lord Buddha is particularly stunning when lit up by the early-morning sun.
