20 kilometres from Shimla’s main city, Kufri is a well-liked tourist resort noted for its ski slopes, Kufri Zoo, and as a starting place for hikes. Kufri, which was established by the British in 1819, has recently grown in popularity as a travel destination. From the parking lot, visitors can either climb to Kufri or take a pony to the major tourist area, which is situated on Mahasu peak at 2,720 metres above sea level.
The two main attractions in Kufri are Mahasu Peak and Fagu Valley, both of which may be reached via pony ride. After taking a pony ride to the top, you should take some time to play in the snow or take pictures.
A few photo opportunities exist, and the view is worth the ascent. The tallest go-karting circuit in the world is at Kufri Fun World, where you can also enjoy go-karting.
After lunch, you can take a pony back to the parking lot and continue on to the Indira Tourist Park in the late afternoon. Or you might go on from there to the Kufri Zoo.
Most visitors to Shimla generally travel to Kufri and Chail, and these destinations are usually included in Shimla vacation packages. Narkanda, Mashobra, Tattapani, and Naldehra are further nearby cities to Kufri and Shimla.
The only way to get to Mahasu Peak, Kufri’s highest peak, is by horse or mule. It’s preferable to ride a horse across the muddy road, which is an exciting experience.
Taking a Yak ride is one of the most unusual things to do in Kufri. You’ll be transported back in time to a time when people travelled on yaks thanks to the slow, probing, fluffy animals. The ride will be brief and primarily for photo ops. You will pay about INR 50 for it.
One of the highest theme parks in the world, Kufri Fun World is situated at 2800 metres above sea level. It has the world’s highest go-kart track. It is one of the most exquisitely placed theme parks in the world, nestled among the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
For the nature lover and trekker in you, the Himalayan National Park is a great deal. About 180 different bird species and incredibly uncommon creatures can be found in the park.
Given that the path is extremely muddy and nearly impassable to walk on foot, this journey to Kufri’s highest peak can only be completed on horseback or with a mule.
The Indira Tourist Park offers a lot for a tranquil atmosphere, with a wonderful atmosphere, good cuisine, and coffee, and is close to the Himalayan National Park.
Fagu, a tranquil village covered in snow and situated at an elevation of 2500 metres, is about 45 minutes’ drive from Shimla. As it is always covered in snow and fog, this region appears to be wonderful.
There is neither a train station nor an airport in Kufri. Arriving in Shimla and then calling a cab to Kufri is the most practical route.
The greatest time to travel to Kufri is from November to March, when snowfall is at its heaviest. But the lovely summer months of April through June are when most people travel. November through March may be the greatest time to visit if you want to see mountains of snow covering the town or go skiing. The months of April through June are ideal for individuals who want to simply relax and take in the cold mountain air.
Kufri’s winter season lasts from November to March. During these months, the area experiences subzero temperatures, making it quite chilly. However, these months are ideal for all snow-related activities, so you can take advantage of skiing and other winter sports.
Due to its tiny size and extensive snow cover, Kufri doesn’t have a lot to offer foodies. However, there are just a few stalls that offer top-notch momos, maggi, etc. that can satisfy travellers’ appetites.
